How to Determine Your Ring Size

How to Determine Your Ring Size

How to Determine Your Ring Size

Let’s take the guesswork out of finding your perfect fit.

When it comes to buying a ring, especially one that is handcrafted and meaningful, like every piece from DON925®, getting the right size truly matters.

A ring that is too tight can be hard to remove, and one that is too loose might slip off at the worst possible moment (like while washing your hands or waving at your ex 😅).

We want your piece to fit just right from day one. Here is everything you need to know about finding your ring size with confidence:

💎 Visit Your Local Jeweler (Highly Recommended)

This is always your best option.
Most jewelers will happily measure your finger for free, and they can even measure your best-fitting ring if you bring one along.

🏠 At Home Options

If visiting a jeweler is not possible, here are a couple of reliable tools you can use from home:

✔️ Plastic Ring Sizer

A flexible ring sizer belt gives you an accurate reading and is reusable for future orders.

It should slide on easily and come off with a gentle twist.

✔️ Ring Mandrel

This tool helps you measure the size of an existing ring.
Tip: Make sure the ring fits snugly on the mandrel with no gaps, and measure from the side where the ring sits flush.

💭 Things to Consider:

Thin vs. Wide Bands

Wider bands (around 6–8mm or more) tend to fit more snugly than thinner rings as they cover a greater finger surface area. Depending on the type of rings and size you usually wear, you may want to size up slightly for comfort. There is a helpful video here.

We use quarter and half sizes to ensure we are as accurate as possible.

Dominant Hand
The fingers on your dominant hand are often slightly larger than those on your non-dominant hand.

🧊 Real Talk: Fingers Change

Yes, really.

  • Cold weather? Fingers shrink.

  • Warm days, salty snacks, some extra cocktails? They swell.

Some people even have different sizes for summer and winter. Useful video here.

🔁 What About Resizing?

  • Solid sterling silver rings can usually be resized.

  • Hollow designs generally cannot be resized.

  • Need a quick fix? A ring snuggie can help. Video here.

🚫 Why We Do Not Recommend the String or Paper Strip Trick

We know it is popular advice online, but we suggest skipping it. Why?

  • It does not account for knuckle size.

  • It does not reflect ring width.

  • It often leads to inaccurate sizing (and frustration later).
