Part 11 confessions of a mexican jewelry designer in New York

Sensitivity, creativity, and emotional awareness are often misunderstood in today’s fast-paced world. In this personal reflection, Maria, co-founder and designer of DON925 Jewelry, shares why being sensitive is not a weakness, but a form of wisdom. This post explores emotional intelligence, creativity, mental clarity, and the intentional decision to pause, reflect, and honor the values behind a handcrafted jewelry brand.

This is an Instagram Reel Series. If you would like to watch the videos and catch up, see Part 10, Part 9, and Part 8.

Part 11 is now live!

Confessions of a Mexican Jewelry Designer in New York – Part 11

I want to talk about something I’ve carried with me my whole life.

I’ve always been sensitive.

Perhaps you can relate…

I pick up on the energy in a room.
Animal documentaries make me cry… a lot!
I feel things deeply, sometimes before I even know why.

For a long time, I thought that was a sign of weakness.

But I’ve learned this:

Our emotions are not an inconvenience.
They don’t mean we’re broken.
They simply mean something matters to us, and that’s okay!

Feelings are not the problem.
They are information.
They’re a bridge, helping us understand ourselves and others.

My ability to sense, to feel, to empathize
It’s not a weakness.
It’s a form of wisdom.

For years, I tried to hide my sensitivity.

But the more I give myself permission to feel,
to cry, to need a deep conversation, or just a long hug…
The more peace I feel in my own skin.

And that is also why I decided to temporarily pause the shop.

Sometimes, stepping back allows you to understand the landscape more clearly.

This pause is a moment to observe and adapt to the changes.
To realign creativity.
And to honor the values behind DON925 Jewelry.

Emotions make us human.
Sensitivity makes us aware.
And you are not broken for feeling deeply.

Thank you for being here.
If this reflection resonated with you, I invite you to follow along as I continue sharing moments of creativity, growth, and intention behind DON925 Jewelry.

Everything you said about sensitivity and emotions resonates with me personally, I have been misunderstood entire life by even my own parents & grandparents because I have always been hypersensitive…it broke me down way too many times and Im not gonna lie and say I’ve finally comes to grip with it but I am very grateful for my heightened sense of compassion, empathy, vigilance, living in each moment for good & bad and looking out for others especially my fur babes before myself though I do have my selfish moments where I dwell on myself a bit too much but my intentions are always pure! You do with what you have and the cards you’re dealt and put one foot and one day in front of the next, and we have to stop apologizing for how & how well God created us…we all have a purpose and we need to find it and cultivate it! God Bless and Happy New Year 2026, Good Luck with DON925!
